WATCH AN EVENT FROM YOUR COMPUTER!

Everyone likes seeing things get demolished, don't they? Going on that premise, go to the Event page, where there is a link to the NOAA Restoration Center "Dam Cam" -- a camera that is taking a time lapse series of photos of the Merrimack Village Dam removal in New Hampshire. The object of the dam removal is to improve fish passage for "anadromous" fish -- fish that are born in the river but spend their lives in the ocean, and then swim back upstream  later to spawn. Dams often physically block the ability of fish to return upstream, and therefore their ability to spawn, depleting fish populations and impacting local economies and ecosystems. OK, enough info... go see the demolition!!!

"The great thing about the Marine and Coastal Management concentration is that you get to try a little bit of everything -- science, policy, economics, technical skills -- it's perfect whether you know exactly what you want to do or whether you're undecided on which direction you want to take in the environmental or marine fields."  ~Student Quote
